DAILY DUMP

Daily Dump: 2026-03-16

Quick roundup today. Mostly stuff I want to remember later, plus a couple of things worth flagging if you’re neck-deep in similar work.

Stuff I’m poking at

Spent the weekend wiring up new n8n flows for a client automation. The HTTP node works fine, but a couple of the third-party APIs I’m hitting are picky about request rates. Solution isn’t pretty, just stacking delay nodes between calls. Ugly, but it ships.

Also tried running Ollama with a bigger model on my dev box. 32GB of RAM and it crawled, but it did run. Don’t expect to serve real traffic from a laptop. Maybe a Pi for a toy demo at best.

What bit me

A Docker Compose networking gotcha cost me an hour on Sunday. Two services on the same network, both trying to bind the same hostname through different aliases. It doesn’t resolve the way you’d think. Stack Overflow had the answer, as usual.

EVE Online corner

Fleet ops Tuesday went sideways when our booster disconnect-bridged into the wrong system. We recovered, but my loss mail tells the whole story. If you’ve flown with me, you already know.

Back to the terminal. Catch you tomorrow.
