Friday. Quick one today.
DNS bit me this morning on a side project. Spent 40 minutes chasing a resolution failure before I noticed I’d left a stale systemd-resolved config from a test I ran two weeks ago. Killed the file, restarted the service, moved on. Not every outage is a cloud problem. Sometimes it’s just yesterday’s leftover sitting in your own config directory.
Saw a useful thread on r/sysadmin about homelab monitoring with Grafana. Bookmarked it for the weekend.
Also: if you’re still on Python 3.10 or 3.11, give 3.13 a spin on a test box. I moved one of my scrapers over last month and haven’t looked back. Nothing fancy. It just works, and the error messages are clearer.
