Notes from today. Nothing earth-shattering, just stuff I’m chewing on between meetings.
Spent the morning fighting with an Ollama container that kept OOMing on the 14B model. Dropped to the 8B variant and it’s fine for the summarization job I have it doing. Memory pressure was the issue, should’ve checked the box limits first instead of guessing. Wasted an hour on that.
Read through a long thread on r/sysadmin about someone migrating 200+ VMs off VMware after the Broadcom licensing mess. Painful but instructive. The general consensus seemed to be: if you’re under 100 hosts, just go Hyper-V or KVM and skip the “enterprise” options. Hard to argue with that.
That’s the lot. Back to the salt mines.
