AI Email Assistants 2025
I get buried in email. Every DevOps person I know does. So I went through the AI email assistants on the market in 2025 to figure out what’s actually useful and what’s just noise.
How I evaluated: vendor docs, G2 and Capterra reviews, community threads, and a bit of hands-on setup testing. No sponsorships, no paid placements.
AI email assistants in 2025 aren’t one thing. Some are full inbox clients with smart triage. Others sit on top of Gmail or Outlook as plugins. A few are basically ChatGPT in a trench coat. Worth knowing which is which before you pay.
The list below is the short version of what I keep seeing come up. I didn’t run these through a week of testing. I read vendor docs, G2 and Capterra reviews, plus a handful of Reddit threads. If you want hands-on impressions, the deeper write-ups on each tool do the work.

Pricing is probably the real filter here. Superhuman still costs real money. Cortana is basically a Microsoft 365 thing now, not really a consumer product. Shortwave and Spark have free tiers that actually hold up. Mailbutler only makes sense if you bounce between Apple Mail, Outlook, and Gmail at once.
None of these are in my own stack. I just use Gmail with a few filters and process mail twice a day. Boring, but it works. These are the names worth starting from if you want something smarter.

These assistants have gotten good enough that I’d actually hand one to a coworker. Most will save you an hour a day on the boring stuff — drafting replies, cleaning up an inbox that’s gone feral. Not a five though. A couple still fumble on tone or hallucinate context, and the pricing on a few is straight-up silly. Worth a try if email runs your calendar.
